Korean Dramas 2020: the best series of the year
The Dreams are a baseball team that does not win more and their society is in disarray. To save her, a new manager is appointed, stubborn and determined, who has no baseball experience, but who has won so many teams. But Baek Seung Soo has a troubling record: all of his teams then disbanded immediately after the win.
Hot Stove League is about baseball and how a team is managed administratively. On the surface it may seem rather technical as a drama, but it is the characters who emerge with their peculiar personalities, their dreams, their weaknesses and their ambitions. Intelligent, neat, well acted and above all exciting. The classic story that never tires of the loser who finds the courage to win.
At home he had a crazy following and won numerous, well-deserved awards, so much so that there are rumors of a possible second season .
Those who love sports stories or simply well-written stories will like it.
Romance level: 0 even if a sincere and deeply respectful relationship will be born between the two protagonists.
IT'S OKAY NOT TO BE OKAY
Immersed in a dark fairytale atmosphere, It's Okay not to be Okay is one of the most successful dramas of this year. With attention to every aspect, the drama is embellished with extraordinary interpretations by both the protagonist Seo Yea Ji, very elegant and magnetic, and Oh Jung Se who plays an autistic man. It's Okay speaks gracefully of mental illness and neurodiversity, conveying the message that each person in his or her singularity deserves respect and the possibility of achieving their own personal happiness . A truly moving and magical drama with a surprising and original style.
Those who love stories full of magic will like it
Romance level: very high. Seo Yea Ji and Kim Soo-Hyun besides being absolutely beautiful make sparks
HOSPITAL PLAYLIST
From the authors of Reply and Prison Playbook (absolutely to be recovered) Hopsital Playlist is a medical drama that is striking for the quality of the script and the construction of the characters.
Staging a very large cast, Hopsital Playlist never gives in to the easy melodrama typical of medical drama, but promises to narrate the lives of doctors and nurses in a large hospital with simplicity and accuracy. At the heart of all four promising doctors who are also longtime friends. The relationship between them is splendid and their bond is intimate and deep.
Another strong point of this drama is its ability to easily change register, mixing more emotional moments with others of pure comedy, also thanks to its fantastic performers. The second season of Hospital Playlist will begin filming this April.
Those who love well-written stories and characters will like it
Romance level: medium. Investigating all aspects of the characters' lives, there is no shortage of engaging love stories. But in history they are never predominant.
KINGDOM 2
Kingdom 2 confirms the splendid work done in the first season and stands as one of the best horror series of this year. Elegant, visually beautiful and truly scary, Kingdom seamlessly blends classic zombie story themes with a luxurious and beautifully crafted historical setting. Absolutely unmissable for lovers of the genre and for anyone who is ready to be intrigued by something new.
Those who love stories that are really scary and fascinating will appeal to them
Romance level: absolute zero

A PIECE OF YOUR MIND
It will surprise you to find A Piece of your mind in this ranking, especially if you take into account that the number of its episodes has been cut due to audience problems. But a Piece of your mind is one of those series that you either adore or hate.
The idea that an AI that can bring missing people back to life is just an unusual premise for telling a very delicate and poetic story of rebirth and healing. The two interpreters, simply perfect, accompany us through a melancholy and sweet story that insinuates itself into the heart to remain there for a long time.
Those who love painful and nostalgic stories will like it
Romance level: high. The two protagonists are of infinite sweetness and tenderness
ITAEWON CLASS
Itaewon Class brings together many elements typical of Korean dramas and does so by perfectly balancing them with each other in an exciting story.
There is the little one who openly faces the big ruthless and corrupt multinational, the typical oriental sense of honor and pride, an exciting love story and then the city life of the great Seoul. And above all the skill of Park Seo Joon stands out, who is rightly one of the most beloved actors in Korea. Also surprising are the female characters of the story who stand out for their originality.
CRASHLANDING ON YOU
An enterprising and successful career woman, for a parachuting accident, ends up in the heavily armored North Korea where she will meet a soldier who, to save himself and her, will help her hide and return to her homeland. Fascinating for the (very fictionalized) description of North Korea that is presented to us as an idyllic, romantically backward state, the drama rests on two great and very experienced protagonists: Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin . Crash Landing thrilled just about everyone with its contrasted Romeo and Juliet romance and a truly adorable side cast. A classic that has the only flaw of being a little too linear in its development.
